I have a BA in Spanish from East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, TX, which I earned in 2010. My GPA was 3.9. I also have and MEd in K-12 TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages) from Plymouth State University in Plymouth, NH, which I earned in 2014. My GPA there was also 3.9.
Experience
I have been tutoring Spanish privately for over two years. I also taught Spanish in a public high school in Texas before I chose to pursue teaching ESL and provide private ESL and Spanish tutoring. I am now an entrepreneur transitioning into full-time private tutoring. My love of teaching comes from my experience as a student. I spent a semester abroad in Costa Rica, which not only helped me gain fluency in Spanish, but taught me the struggles and joys of being a language learner. I believe that my having begun learning Spanish as an adolescent and in college allows me to better understand the rules that shape Spanish and tricks to learn and teach it. Once I finished my B.A. in Spanish, I began graduate school. I had the opportunity to student teach at both the high school and elementary school levels, which earned me an MEd and a K-12 TESOL (ESL) certification. Since then, I have worked both as a full-time teacher and as a tutor. However, I have come to prefer private tutoring because I find that I am better able to provide one-on-one attention to students, and give more in-depth feedback to parents.
