Private tutor in Lowell, MA
University of Massachusetts-Lowell - Bachelor of Science, Mathematics
I recently obtained a B.S. in Mathematics, with a minor in STEM Education, from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Having begun teaching this fall at Lowell High School, I started tutoring while still a high school senior. Algebra, the foundation of many mathematical topics, is my favorite subject. I am capable of deepening students' knowledge of related concepts. Geometry is another subject I like teaching. My tutoring style is variable. It's necessary to assess what each individual knows. Working one-on-one helps me decide how to proceed and lets the student learn through exploration and inquiry. I don't just tell the answer. The goal is to serve as a guide. There's no feeling like helping someone gain a complete understanding. As for me, I'm excited about starting my teaching career. I student taught at Billerica Memorial High School and witnessed how many students struggle with Algebra. As a peer tutor at the Centers for Learning at college, I conducted midterm and final exam reviews. I completed a triathlon in college and hope to do so again soon. Before I started college, I was a summer camp swim instructor and lifeguard. I enjoy outdoor activity, swimming, kayaking, and running and hiking with my dogs.
